Approach
Somatic Experiencing®
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) is a mind-body-oriented therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine. SE™ is a gentle, naturalistic approach aimed at regulating the nervous system and building resilience. SE™ addresses stress and trauma that gets stored in the body, honoring the body's innate healing mechanism and reinstating a capacity for self-regulation. Rather than focusing on only thoughts or memories, SE works with the body’s natural ability to recover and regulate from overwhelming experiences.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, is an extensively researched psychotherapy proven to help clients recover from trauma and adverse life experiences. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to allow clients to access memories from aversive life events so that they can be reprocessed in a safe therapeutic environment and allow the brain to resume its natural healing process.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of bringing gentle non judgmental awareness to the present moment. It involves noticing thoughts, feelings, body sensations with curiosity rather than criticism, allowing space for greater clarity and peace. Through mindfulness many people learn to manage stress more effectively, reduce anxiety, and develop healthier relationships. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for grounding, building resilience, and breaking free from unhealthy thought patterns.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a well researched, evidenced based approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It helps individual recognize unhelpful patterns of thinking and replace them with more balanced, constructive perspectives.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an innovative therapeutic approach that combines the use of ketamine, a safe and effective medication, with talk therapy, somatic modalities, and insight-oriented work to explore and process emotional changes. Ketamine is used to enhance the therapeutic process by fostering a state of openness, introspection, and healing. KAP is backed by research demonstrating its effectiveness for conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other treatment-resistant conditions. Ketamine has been shown to promote neuroplasticity, allowing the brain to form new, healthier connections. This can help clients break free from unhelpful thought patterns, process past trauma, and achieve greater emotional balance. Combined with psychotherapy, KAP offers a unique pathway to deeper self-awareness and lasting healing. I assist with the psychotherapy portion of the experience while Journey Clinical handles all medical aspects, i.e. medical evaluation and prescribing.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is an evidenced based therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz. IFS identifies the human mind being made up of many “ parts” each with their own feelings, beliefs, and roles. While some parts may carry painful experiences, others work hard to protect us from being overwhelmed. This inner system is natural and adaptive, but over time it can become imbalanced and rigid, leading to distress. IFS emphasized the presence of the Self- the compassionate and wise core within everyone. Healing occurs when the Self can engage with parts in a caring and respectful way allowing them to release burden and take on healthier roles.
